PWC Lab (“the app”) is built by GT40 Marine for personal-watercraft riders. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and your choices. Questions: mike@gt40marine.com.
What we collect
- Approximate location (~1 km). When you record a run or go “on the water,” the app uses GPS to time your run and to place you on an area/lake leaderboard and the “who’s riding now” map. Your location is rounded to roughly 1 km before it leaves your device — we never publish your exact coordinates. Location is used only while you are recording or sharing that you’re out; you can decline the permission and still use most of the app.
- Rider handle (display name). Optional. Shown on leaderboards and ride/meetup rosters.
- Photos. Optional. If you add a ski photo, profile picture, or save a share card, those images are handled on your device / your chosen destination.
- Anonymous device identifier. A random ID used to de-duplicate leaderboard entries and presence, and for basic usage analytics. It is not your name, email, or phone number.
- Ride & performance data. GPS-derived stats from your runs (top speed, acceleration, distance) and the ski/build details you enter.
No account required. PWC Lab works without signing in. We do not ask you to create an account and do not collect an email, password, name, phone number, or any login credential to use the app.
How we use it
To provide the app’s features: verified speed runs, area/lake leaderboards, live “who’s riding” presence, group rides and meetups, your garage/build tracking, and fitment-based upgrade guidance. We use basic analytics to improve the app.
What we share
- The public leaderboard and presence show your handle and a coarse area name to other riders. Exact location is never shown.
- App data is stored on our backend provider (Supabase). Data is encrypted in transit.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Your choices
- Decline or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings (some features will be limited).
- Reset your profile and local data from Settings → Reset in the app.
- Request deletion of server-stored data by emailing mike@gt40marine.com.
Children
PWC Lab is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be noted in the app and dated above.
